Lance Armstrong has moved to block the SCA promotions legal battle in an attempt to avoid having to pay back $12million. He has been in dispute with the organisation since 2005 when he was first accused of doping and they refused to pay Armstrong any bonuses for winning that year’s Tour de France.
The case was closed until SCA re-opened it in 2013 following the USADA’s Reasoned Decision announcing that Armstrong did dope. Many courts have refused to block the case so now Armstrong is taking his plea to the Texas Supreme Court.
He has faced several court cases as a result of his doping and he recently settled with the Sunday Times newspaper and Acceptance Assurance, who paid him $3million. The US Government is trying to reclaim 30$million that was paid to him by the US Postal Service when he rode for them. To make matters worse the damages may reach up to $100million with Floyd Landis due to receive a portion of that figure.
