An official statement from USADA CEO, Travis T. Tygart, suggests that former 7 times Tour de France winner, Lance Armstrong, may be ready to aid USADA in the endeavour to cleanse cycling from doping.

“We have been in communication with Mr. Armstrong and his representatives and we understand that he does want to be part of the solution and assist in the effort to clean up the sport of cycling. We have agreed to his request for an additional two weeks to work on details to hopefully allow for this to happen.”
 

In January Armstrong went public and admitted to years of systematic doping after having denied all allegations throughout his active career.

After his admission Armstrong was given until February 6 to “cooperate fully and truthfully” with USADA. Armstrong, however, has been unable to comply with this deadline and has asked for a two weeks delay which USADA has granted him.
 

Tygart also emphasises the need for Armstrong to appear before a judge to give his testimony. If he does so, Armstrong may hope for a reduced sentence for his use of performance-enhancing drugs and thus he might be able to compete actively again (in triathlon).
