Team Giant-Alpecin is pleased to announce that Nikias Arndt (GER) and Georg Preidler (AUT) have renewed their contracts with the team. Both Arndt and Preidler have been with the team since 2013 and will extend their commitment to the team for another two years, until the end of 2017.
“With Nikias we have a talented sprinter whom we will develop more and more as a rider for the bunch sprints, but in addition he can also play an important role in the classics.
“Georg is a different type of rider. He is developing in the hilly races and mountain stages and will play a key support role on this terrain in the WorldTour races,” said Rudi Kemna (NED).
Arndt commented on his contract renewal: “I turned pro with this team, and I have developed as a rider together with the team. I am happy with how everything has gone and how the organization has helped me improve. This process is not complete yet, so it was clear to me that I would like to stay in this environment. I spoke with the team about my development and my position, and we came up with a long-term plan.
“First of all, I want to grow as a rider and take the necessary next steps. And I am looking forward to the classics, where I want do a good job in the finale for the team and, in the longer term, get some results. In addition, I would like to further improve my sprinting.”
“I am happy that the team has confidence in my qualities and is giving me the chance to improve with help from the performance staff,” said Preidler. “It’s a pleasure to ride and work for our team leaders. Seeing them succeed in races is rewarding and makes me feel part of their victory. The team also gives me the chance to ride in the biggest races on the calendar, which is great motivation and one of the many reasons why I wanted to stay here.”
