Nikias Arndt sprinted to 3rd at Sparkassen Münsterland Giro, as Tom Boonen won the race from the bunch sprint.
The German one-day race Sparkassen Münsterland Giro took place today on a 179.9km course from Ibbenbüren to Münster. After one hour of racing a leading group of 5 riders got away and Team Giant-Alpecin together with Etixx – Quick Step set the pace in the bunch. With 12km to go everything came back together.
The bunch sprint in the streets of Münster was won by Tom Boonen (Etixx – Quick Step) and Arndt took 3rd. Ramon Sinkeldam sprinted to 16th place.
Coach Rudi Kemna reflected: “Carter [Jones]and Cheng [Ji] did a good job in controlling the pace in the bunch. Unfortunately Marcel was dropped on the local laps, so we went for Nikias in the sprint. Koen [De Kort] and Ramon did a strong lead-out to launch Nikias to a great podium finish.”
