After his debut the Tour de France in 2016, Fabio Aru will return to the Giro in 2017, a race that, for its hundredth edition, will start in his home region of Sardinia. Today Aru has announced the calendar which will lead to the first Grand Tour of the season. 

Aru will make his debut at the Tour of Oman on February 14. He will remain in the Middle East for the Abu Dhabi Tour before returning to Europe to take part in Strade Bianche on March 4.  Tirreno-Adriatico will follow four days later when the staff and especially sports director Giuseppe Martinelli, who unveiled the calendar in Nuova Sardegna, hope to see him in good shape. He will head to Milan-San Remo before leaving for a training camp. 

Aru is expected to resume competition at the Tour of Croatia, which will have a course with two uphill finishes, and that will be his final race before the Giro. 

Martinelli also confirmed that Aru will have the Vuelta as the goal of the second half of the season like he had in 2014 and 2015.
