Vincenzo Nibali will be supported by a formidable team at the Vuelta a Espana as team manager Guiseppe Martinelli has almost finished his selection. Only health problems for Valerio Agnoli and Alessandro Vanotti prevents the team from finalizing its roster.

Vincenzo Nibali has set his sights on a Giro-Vuelta double this year and the Italian could not have wished a better team to support him in the Spanish grand tour. Team manager Giuseppe Martinelli has almost finalized his selections and the roster shapes up to be a formidable one.

Jakob Fuglsang who recently finished 7th at the Tour de France will join forces with Janez Brajkovic - whoc crashed out of the French grand tour but finished 9th overall one year earlier - and Paolo Tiralongo to form the backbone of his support crew for the mountains. Fuglsang hasn't raced since the Clasica San Sebastian while Brajkovic and Tiralongo both finished the Vuelta a Burgos on Sunday, the latter showing splendid condition by finishing 6th on the queen stage.

Tanel Kangert is set to offer the same kind of fabulous support he did in the Giro where he finished 14th overall despite dedicating himself to his captain. Since then he has finished 6th and 9th in the Tour de Suisse and Tour de Pologne respectively to prove his constantly growing level.

Andrey Zeits and Andrei Grivko are also set to line up in Spain, the former having shown good condition in Burgos and the latter targeting a good overall result at the Eneco Tour this week.

What prevents Martinelli from finalizing his selection is the condition of Valerio Agnoli and Alessandro Vanotti, the two trusted domestiques who followed Nibali from Liquigas to Astana prior to the season. The former managed to almost get through the Vuelta a Burgos but was far from his usual level while the latter hasn't raced since he was forced to abandon the Tour de Pologne.

Should one or both of those riders fail to get ready, they will be replaced by either Dmitriy Gruzdev or Maxim Iglinskiy. Both Kazakhs are racing the Eneco Tour right now with the latter showing an unusually good condition in a part of the season where he usually doesn't shine.

The Vuelta starts on August 24 with a team time trial in Galicia.
