According to Italian media, Astana Tour de France captain Vincenzo Nibali and in-form Lieuwe Westra learned which team-mates are going to support them during tough three-weeks in France, and only one slot in Kazakh team’s roster remains to be filled before finalizing the selection.

Westra, currently attending a training camp in the Dolomites alongside seven team-mates, is expected to play an important role in Nibali’s Tour de France campaign, as the Dutch rider shone brightly in his last showing at the Criterium du Dauphine.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, six riders have already secured their spots in Astana’s Tour roster alongside Nibali and Westra, particularly Jakob Fuglsang, Andriy Grivko, Dimitri Gruzdev, Tanel Kangert, Michele Scarponi and Alessandro Vanotti.

With only one place in the Kazakh team’s roster to be filled before the final selection is announced, the Italian sports newspaper suggests that most probably candidates for the free spot are Jacopo Guarnieri, Francesco Gavazzi or yet another rider originating from Kazakhstan.
