"In the finale, I pushed as much as possible to increase the speed."

Those were the words of Astana's Dario Cataldo after the team time trial first stage of Giro del Trentino. Cataldo was the first on the finish line after a time trial characterized by a favorable wind and fast corners.

Cataldo and his teammates were regular and clever to set an average speed of 56 km/h. Astana Pro Team finished in third place, 4 seconds behind stage winner Bora-Argon 18 of Germany.

The team lost Fabio Aru on the eve of the race but still have several GC contenders like Mikel Landa, Diego Rosa, Tanel Kangert and Cataldo.
