Samuel Sánchez, in 21st place, was the BMC Racing Team's top finisher on Friday's mountain-top finish at the Vuelta a España.
The 2008 Olympic road race champion arrived at the summit of Alto de Capileira 63 seconds after solo stage winner, Bert Jan Lindeman (Team Lotto NL-Jumbo), who was one of six riders in the day's breakaway in the 191.1-kilometer race. Tejay van Garderen was the next BMC Racing Team rider to arrive, in 28th, 1:25 back of Lindeman.
Esteban Chaves (ORICA-GreenEDGE) kept the overall lead. Van Garderen is 16th, 2:05 behind, while Sánchez climbed from 23rd to 19th and is 2:50 down.
