The third stage in the Pyrenees is scheduled for today: 195 tough kilometres from Lannemezan to Plateau de Beille, a finish that gives some memories for Lotto Soudal thanks to the victory of Jelle Vanendert in 2011. The riders have to tackle four climbs in this queen stage. Contrary to many others, Lars Bak has a lot of energy left. The Dane finished in a group with Urán, Meintjes, Fuglsang and Kelderman yesterday.
“It’s true that I feel quite good," he said. "Last year at the same moment, I rode almost every day at the front of the peloton, but the situation is different now. After today, there are a few transition stages that I like, although it will depend on the situation for the green jersey and Tony Gallopin’s position in the GC. First we need to survive Plateau de Beille. There’s an intermediate sprint after 20 kilometres where we’re going to try to take some points back on Sagan with André. Afterwards, for the non-climbers it will be a matter of finding a good group to ride towards the finish line."
