Will Alessandro Ballan make his comeback with the Southeast team? That’s the newest rumour on the transfer market, started yesterday by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Italian who has served his suspension for involvement in the Mantova investigation and has desperately been looking for a new team, would be a significant reinforcement of the Italian team. It comes a few weeks after Filippo Pozzato was also linked to the team that allowed him to shine in one of his most successful seasons back in 2012.
For both riders, Southeast would be an obvious choice as they are usually invited to several Belgian classics where they have achieved their best results. The team has a good history of reinvigorating riders but also has a tainted past with the doping cases of Danilo Di Luca, Mauro Santambrogio and Matteo Rabottini.
As they won the Coppa Italia, Southeast has a guaranteed spot in the Giro d’Italia.
