Top 10 finishers in 2015 Romain Bardet and Domenico Pozzovivo will lead Ag2r in Liege-Bastogne-Liege.
"Liège-Bastogne-Liège is a race I love since my first participation in 2013," Bardet said. "I always finished top 15 (13th in 2013, 10th in 2014, 6th in 2015). It’s a race which suits me perfectly. Now, I want to take a step forward.
"After a consistent mountain training camp in Sierra-Nevada and Giro del Trentino this week, I feel good.I am able to play a role in the final. In spite of Alexis Vuillermoz’ s forfeit, AG2R LA MONDIALE Pro Cycling Team is strong and made for that kind of race.
"It’s a race where you must be an enduring rider with tactical skills on the last climbs. The decision is made in a few seconds in the key points of the race. I love this race. I dreamt of it when I was a kid.
"It’s a "monument" of cycling and the classic I can ride with real ambitions. I love the atmosphere, the enthusiasm of the crowd. I really hope to perform well this year."
Jean-Christophe Peraud, Domenico Pozzovivo and Romain Bardet, who participate in Giro del Trentino, won’t take part to the team recon on Friday. They will inspect the final kilometers on Saturday and especially the new Côte de la Rue Naniot.
