Romain Bardet made several attacks but missed the decisive move in the queen stage of the Tour de Romandie. In the end he won the sprint for third.
"I was disappointed after the team time trial," he said. "Today, I wanted to play for the stage win. I'm a little disappointed because the only move in the final which I didnøt join, was the one that gave Thibaut (Pinot) the win. It is a shame as I have been strong in recent weeks and know that when the legs are there I can't miss the opportunities. I'm happy with my form and the work done in recent weeks. The current sensations makes me confident for the second part of the season."
"We tried with many, many attacks, with Jean-Christophe Peraud and Romain Bardet," sports director Didier Jannel said. "It was what we had expected. Romain was very strong and it's a shame because he is really very strong. This result validates all the work he has made in recent weeks. Without our disappointing team time trial, Romain would have been in the top 10."
