AG2R La Mondiale have announced their rosters for the two weekend races: Brussels Cycling Classic and Grand Prix de Fourmies.
Bardet, returning from the Olympics, has had a break since the race in Rio de Janeiro and will be riding on home soil in the French GP de Fourmies.
“First of all, I spent time with my family. The last few months were physically and mentally exhausting. I really needed to rest and to enjoy some family moments. I went two weeks to Val d’Isere in order to relax and to start training again. Among all the climbs I rode, I trained a lot on the Iseran ascent because it is my favorite climb in the Alps. I deeply appreciate to ride mountain roads. More than a job, it is a true passion to me,” Bardet said.
“This Tour de France was emotionally intense with my 2nd place and my stage victory. I feel I am progressing, that is why I have great expectations for the future. Then, I did not have the same success at the Olympic races but it was an amazing experience. It was incredible to be a part of this event.”
The season is not yet over for the French star.
“For the fourth time in my career I will ride The Grand Prix de Fourmies this Sunday. This race is ideal to start competition again. Then, I will go to Canada to ride the Grand Prix Cycliste de Quebec and Montreal which are two important UCI WorldTour races. I particularly appreciate their routes and I have good memories in Montréal with a 7th and a 5th place overall in 2013 and 2014. Giro di Lombardia might be interesting to ride because I want to keep my 7th place in the UCI Individual World Ranking. I have many objectives therefore this late season is really attractive."
Before the season ends, Romain Bardet will ride both Grand Prix Cycliste de Quebec and Montreal in Canada (September 9th and 11th) but he will also participate to Giro del Emilia (September 24th), Milano-Torino Semi-Classic (September 28th) and Giro di Lombardia (October 1st).
