With two stage wins, an overall fifth place and a win in the teams classification, Bardiani had a very successful Tour de Slovenie. The team is now heading into the final two races of the first part of its season with a boosted confidence.
With three stage wins, Bardiani had a memorable Giro d'Italia and the team seems to be unstoppable at the moment. This week they continued their success in the Tour de Slovenie where two of their most talented riders took their first professional victories.
It all started when Sonny Colbrelli took a long overdue win in the second stage, beating Michael Matthews in a sprint, and yesterday Francesco Bongiorno got his revenge for the Monte Zoncolan disappointment when he won the queen stage. Today the team ended the race on a high as they secured fifth overall for Bongiorno and won the teams classification.
” We come back home from this Tour de Slovenie really satisfied," sports director Mirko Rossato said. "Two stage wins, 1st in team classification and 5th for Bongiorno in the GC confirm the great momentum of our guys. The harmony in the team is a really positive factor and I’m confident that we can repeat in the upcoming races: GP dell’Appennino and the Italian Championships”.
