Today the Tour of Oman finished with the final stage in Muscat after 133.5km. Matthias Brandle (IAM) won the stage ahead of his companions of the early breakaway that held off the peloton. Behind, the main group’s sprint was won by Sagan (Tinkoff), with Sonny Colbrelli in 18th place.
Bardiani-CSF worked hard on the front in the finale, trying to catch the breakaway, but the Green Team leaves Oman empty-handed.
”It was a really demanding race, the routes and the heat tested our young riders a lot," manager Roberto Reverberi said. "Often we went in the early breakaways but sometimes we missed the top 10 in some stages where we had hoped for better results. Anyway these though three weeks of racing in Dubai, Qatar and Oman helped us a lot to be in good shape for the upcoming European events, starting with GP Lugano on March 1."
