The Bardiani-CSF Inox squad has teamed up with PowerTap and will publish both training and racing data in 2014. Through transparency, the professional continental team hopes to prove that it is doing things in a right and sound manner.
In times plagued by doping suspicions and rumours, the Italian professional continental team Bardiani-CSF Inox has decided to publish data from both training and races throughout the 2014 season. The team has reached an agreement with PowerTap who will provide the riders with their power meters.
Bardiani-CSF Inox is an Italian pro continental team that is mostly made up of young Italian riders. It is a perennial participant in the Giro d'Italia and had a very successful 2013 edition of the Italian grand tour, with Enrico Battaglin winning a stage and Stefano Pirazzi bringing home the mountains jersey.
In 2014 the Italian team is again in contention for one of three wildcard invitations to the three-week race and hopes to build on the successes achieved in the past season. The team has grown out from the former Panaria team that was hit by scandal in 2008 when Emanuele Sella tested positive for CERA after winning three stages and the mountains jersey in that year's Giro.
In an attempt to prove that the team is doing things in a correct manner and to provide fans with interesting data, the team has taken the new step.
"We are working methodically and seriously and want to show how our riders train and perform in the races based on sound and accurate scientific knowledge," manager Roberto Reverberi said. "By using PowerTap power meters and the insight of our coach, we will be able to explain many interesting aspects to our fans and the media in 2014. I am convinced that this will give additional value to our project known as #GreenTeam."
The team has lost its star rider Sacha Modolo who has signed a contract with Lampre-Merida but will again count on the services of Battaglin and Pirazzi. In addition to those two riders, sprinter Sonny Colbrelli and climbers Francesco Bongiorno and Edoardo Zardini have proved that they are capable of great things in the coming season.
The team will have its first training camp from December 18 to 21 in the Italian city of Fiuggi.
