After yesterday's team time trial, where Bora-Argon 18 took the second place, today's stage led over more profiled terrain. Daniel Schorn sprinted to the third place from a ten-man lead group, Bora-Argon 18 teammate Jan Barta finished fifth.
Both moved up in and now sit 5th and 6th in the overall rankings respecitively. With 199 kilometers and seven categorized climbs, the queen stage is on the program tomorrow. It will bring the preliminary decision for the overall victory of the tour.
"When the wind picked up and the terrain opened, there was a great momentum in the field. So the breakaway was caught very early on and the field was divided into several groups. 20 riders were able to build a lead. The group was again divided at the end, so that ten riders made up the victory among themselves. Daniel sprinted to a very good third place. This is a great result and his good shape will give him confidence for the next few weeks. Jan is our man for the overall ranking and in absolute striking distance", said Enrico Poitschke, Sport Director of Bora-Argon 18, said.
