Alberto Contador and Ivan Basso will ride their first race together when they spearhead Tinkoff-Saxo in the Vuelta a Andalucia. In the Spanish race, Contador will be supported by a formidable line-up of climbers.
In 2015, Alberto Contador will maje an unusual season debut when he lines up for his first race at the Vuelta a Andalucia from February 18 to 22. The Spaniard has chosen the mountainous race that offers two summit finishes and a short time trial, as his first test of the year.
Contador rarely enters a race without any personal ambitions and based on the line-up for the Spanish race, he is travelling to Andalusia to win the race. In Spain, he will be supported by new signing Ivan Basso and his trusted climbing domestiques Jesus Hernandez and Sergio Paulinho while Evgeny Petrov will also provide solid support on the climbs.
For the flatter stages, Contador can count on veteran Matteo Tosatto and Danish champion Michael Valgren Andersen who had an amazing debut season in 2014.
However, Contador faces stiff competition in Andalusia as Chris Froome, Nairo Quintana, Jurgen van den Broeck, Pierre Rolland, Jean-Christophe Peraud and Romain Bardet are all set to be at the start of the 5-day Spanish race.
