Ivan Basso has the debut in 2014 season under his belt as he participated in the Gran Premio Costa degli Etruschi held on February 2nd, where he finished 36th, but he will not return to competition before 2nd of March, when he is expected to race in the GP Lugano. As it was recently announced, the Cannondale leader has made some significant changes to his 2014 schedule and he will participate in the Tirreno-Adriatico instead of Paris-Nice, as it was initially planned.
Cannondale have confirmed that change by announcing the racing calendar of the former Giro d’Italia champion for the first part of the season, which includes GP Lugano (2 March), Roma Máxima (9 March), Tirreno-Adriático (12-18 March), Volta a Catalunya (24-30 March) and Giro del Trentino (22-25 April).
Than Tour de Romandie (April 29-May 4) most likely would be included, before tackling his main objective of the season, the Giro d’Italia (May 9 – June 1), where he will try to once again replicate his splendid form and repeat triumphs claimed in 2006 and 2010.
Thus, Basso will skip the Paris-Nice and Tour of Taiwan, which initially featured in his schedule for 2014 season.
