Sonny Colbrelli sprinted to 14th in Stage 17 of the Giro d’Italia.
However, it was a tough day for Bardiani. Enrico Battaglin got up this morning with the flu but he was able to finish the stage after a huge effort. Enrico Barbin was forced to abandon the Giro d’Italia due to physical problems.
”It could seemed a quiet stage but the peloton went really fast again today," manager Roberto Reverberi said. "On the first climb of Teglio we tried to send Chirico in the breakaway but he missed the escapees by a few metres. Then for the finale we had Colbrelli but he climbed too far back on the final hill and in the following fast descent he didn’t get back in front for the final sprint. Regarding Barbin, it is always a bad moment when a rider abandons the race. We hope Battaglin can recover and arrive in Milan."
