Wanty will go into the Trittico Lombardo race series with Jerome Baugnies as their leader. Danilo Napolitano will be on hand for the flat Coppa Bernocchi while Kevin Seeldrayers could excel in the hilly Tre Valli Varesine.
This week, the Wanty-Groupe Gobert rides five one-day races in Italy. Jérome Baugnies, second in the Giro Toscana and fourth in the GP Industria in July, will be the team's leader. The Italians Mirko Selvaggi and Danilo Napolitano will be motivated to show themselves in front of the home crowds.
The team of sports director Steven de Neef also consists of Frederik Backaert, Jérôme Gilbert, Kevin Seeldraeyers and the two Dutch riders Marco Minnaard and Michel Kreder.
The Coppa Bernocchi is the first race of the week on Tuesday. It's 190,3 kilometre between Legano and Legano. The race usually ends in a sprint. On Wednesday the team will be present in the Coppa Agostini, a 199,6 kilometre race between Lissone and Lissone. The last race of the so-called Trittico Lombardo is the most difficult one. The Tre Valle Varesine is a climber's race for e.g. Kevin Seeldraeyers.
After a rest day, the team travel to Cesenatico (the birth place of Marco Pantani) for the Memorial Marco Pantani on Saturday the 20th of September. This is a race for either the sprinters of the puncheur-style riders. The week in Italy ends on Sunday with the GP Commercio di Prato.
