David Belda again put his great form on show when he won his second stage in the Volta a Portugal in another uphill finish earlier today. The Spaniard sees the result as a confirmation that he is currently one of the strongest riders in the race and has great form.
Two days ago David Belda won the first summit finish in the Volta a Portugal when he made a fantastic solo attack on the final climb. Yesterday he tried a similar move but was caught by his fellow race favourites with less than1km to go.
Today the race had its third consecutive summit finish and for the third day in a row, Belda tried a late attack on the final climb. And unlike yesterday, the Spaniard managed to hold off his GC rivals to take his second win in just 6 days of racing in the Portuguese event.
Earlier this year Belda won the Vuelta a Castilla y Leon overall and so continues to impress at the highest level. Today's win has moved him into 7th in the overall standings and he may be about to achieve another top result in a high-level race.
