The Copenhagen Six Days opened with a 75 minutes Madison which was won by Belgians Kenny De Ketele and Moreno De Pauw who ended Tuesday night as winners of the Berlin Six Days. Five teams ended on the same lap but De Pauw was able to outsprint Yoeri Havik in the dash for the finish line.
However, it was a third Belgian, Jasper De Buyst, riding with Dane Marc Hester in his first Six Days race of the year, who finished the opening evening on a high note. First he won the elimination race and then outclassed Alex Rasmussen in the final sprint event of the evening.
In the overall classification, though, it mattered little as five teams still remain on the same lap going into the second evening.
Unfortunately, Marcel Kalz had to be neutralized due to a saddle sore, which explains why he and Christian Grasmann trail way behind the leaders.
