Like last year, cyclo-cross rider Wietse Bosmans must end his cyclo-cross season prematurely. "The positive thing is that from April I can again focus 100% on my sport," Bosmans said.
With four victories in China and the United States, Wietse Bosmans started the season well. The 23-year-old cross rider wanted to be bac near the top of the UCI rankings after a diastrous year.
Last year, the promising Bosmans barely did any races due to Lyme disease and now he again has to stop.
"I have a very dark period behind me, but I always remained combative. And I will continue," Bosmans wrote on his website. "Now I finally know what's wrong.
"You have to cherish what is most dear, namely your health. Next week the first six weeks of treatment will start, followed by a second treatment for another six weeks. The positive thing is that from mid-April I will be able to again focus 100% on my sport. "
