Belkin will line up at the Druivenkoers Overijse with the goal of breaking the Bjorn Leukemans dominance in the race. The team will be led by Bram Tankink, Maarten Wynants and Nick van der Lijke on the tough course.
The Belkin Pro Cycling TEAM is aiming to break Björn Leukemans’ reign in the Druivenkoers-Overijse on Wednesday. The Belgian, currently racing for Wanty-Groupe Gobert, won the race for the fourth consecutive year last season.
Sports Director Michiel Elijzen counts on strong riders like Nick van der Lijke, Bram Tankink and Maarten Wynants over the course similar to Brabantse Pijl’s course.
“The Druivenkoers is quite a difficult race,” said Elijzen. “The course is quite selective. Indeed, it looks a bit like Brabantse Pijl. The men have to tackle a lot of short hills and it is mainly twisting and turning.”
Elijzen’s plan is centred on Van der Lijke, Tankink and Wynants.
“The team is going to do its utmost to help those three men start the final as fresh as possible. They are strong finishers when a small group sprints for the victory, but can also snatch the win with a solo attack. I expect the race to end in one of those two ways.”
TEAM line-up:
Jetse Bol, Theo Bos, Rick Flens, Nick van der Lijke, Barry Markus, Bram Tankink, Maarten Wynants and Dennis van Winden.
