With the season’s end in sight, the Belkin Pro Cycling Team hopes to show itself a few more times before the winter break. In Circuit Franco Belge (Tour de l'Eurometropole) Sports Director Frans Maassen aims for a stage win or a good classification, and maybe both.
"After the first stage, we’ll see what is in store for us, but at least I expect a motivated team," said Maassen. "This is a beautiful race to show what we are still capable of at the end of the season."
With Sep Vanmarcke and Maarten Wynants, Maassen has a man in form and the number three of last year’s race. Theo Bos will be the team’s main asset in the sprints. "Although a bunch sprint won’t be easy,” added Maassen. “The course is more difficult than in previous years."
Maarten Wynants enters the race with ambitions. "I'm very motivated. Sep and I will try to take our chances,” Wynants explained. “The route has changed, and that’s in my favour. I hope for bad weather and wind, that way we’ll have a more open race. I want to end the season in style. I’ve been pretty good the last few weeks, I hope to make it super good.”
Circuit Franco Belge (Tour de l'Eurometropole) begins on Thursday October 3 and ends on Sunday October 6.
