Despite a dramatic solo start-to-finish attack from Tony Martin (Omega Pharma-Quick Step), Michael Mørkøv (Team Saxo-Tinkoff) took the win, with Graeme Brown claiming a top ten spot. The Australian Belkin Pro Cycling Team rider placed tenth in the hectic sprint of the sixth stage of the Vuelta a España yesterday.

“Robert Wagner was awesome dropping me off at the front of the pack, but unfortunately I was not fast enough,” Graeme Brown acknowledged. “The final was very tough. The climb with 6km to go put many of the sprinters at their limit. Of course I could have done better, but it is nice to sprint again.”

Robert Wagner conceded that he exhausted himself and had to put an end to his lead-out effort with 800 metres to go.

"I’m not one hundred per cent fit and missed that little extra in the lead-out for Brown, but it wasn’t bad,” Robert Wagner explained. “For now this was the maximum I could do. With only 800 metres to go I was done. It was a hard final. During the stage we did well as a team. Bauke [Mollema] and Laurens [ten Dam] were never in danger.”
