" Today I have some regrets because I hoped to win ." These are the first words of Manuel Belletti (Southeast) after finishing second at the GP Beghelli. The Italian hoped to win for the first time at the finish in Monteveglio after having been close on numerous occasions in the event.
" It could have been better but unfortunately in the last 600 meters we were surprised by Bono who made the gap to Ferrari and Colbrelli. I caught them at 300 meters to go and at that point I started my sprint but the effort I had made before meant that I missed something in the last meters . Too bad," he told Spaziociclismo. "I was hoping to win the first and last race [he won the GP Costa degli Etruschi]. I was close. Sooner or later I will win the GP Beghelli.
"The season was really great and I had three victories. For the first time I showed up at the Giro in excellent condition but unfortunately I suffered the patella fracture. I was out of competition for more than two months. When I came back to the racing I was very good and unfortunately I the got the dislocated shoulder. It was a central part of a troubled season. In the end I was fine but it was not as uncomplicated as I had hoped."
