A late crash at the final stage of the Arctic Race of Norway destroyed every chance of a GC Top 10 position for Paul Voss. He was able to continue the race and reached the finish in Narvik after 165 kilometers in a chasing group, 1:43 minutes behind the winner Silvain Dillier (BMC). Voss finished the Tour in 20th place overall.
Although the goal of the general classification was not reached, BORA – ARGON 18 did a successful race in Norway. Sam Bennett was stage winner, third in the opening stage and was beaten in the points classification by Alexander Kristoff (Katusha) by one single point only.
"We wanted to try to go on the sprint jersey today. In the first sprint, Sam unfortunately gained no points because the guys just didn’t ride enough for it. That's a pity, but from such errors a young rider learns a lot. So he then tried his luck on the next sprint and won it. Too bad that we missed the jersey", says Andre Schulze, Sport Director of BORA – ARGON 18.
"Someone rode into Paul in the beginning of the final laps and so he crashed. In that moment the GC was over, because the lap was like a roller coaster. On such a course you have no chance to come back once they start attacking on the front. But generally, it was a successful race for us. We can be satisfied with scoring a stage win and a podium given the level of racing here", Schulze concluded.
