Benoît Vaugrenard, with an experience of 12 years with the pro team FDJ.fr, won the French national championships time trial title in 2007. He has obtained good results in classics (8th at Liège-Bastogne-Liège in 2009, 11th in 2013) and will continue with the FDJ.fr, with new ambitions.
This season has been marred by injury. He had surgery the iliac artery in late September. "I recovered well. I was operated on Monday and a few days later, I was at home with the obligation to take at complete rest for a month. After a week I was walking well. Now I do sports again, swinning and walking. I will ride the bike this weekend. I can not wait!"
Eager to get back on the bike, Vaugrenard talks about the upcoming season: "I will be back on my bike between 10 and 15 November. In two weeks we have a training camp in Moussy-le-Vieux, during which I will have a personal talk with my bosses. I can do things I was unable to do before my surgeru. My plan is to get to training in December in Spain with a good level."
His main goal is to compete in a grand tour: "I have not done that for two years. I have a preference for the Tour de France that will pass near my home during the team time trial between Vannes and Plumelec. I have information about the course. And then I want to do the Ardennes classics that are important to me. We started to have a good team for these races in 2014 but we have not had any luck. Arthur Vichot, our designated leader, suffered a knee injury and missed out. We want a revenge!"
