The Rabobank Development Team will choose a different race programme in 2015 to accommodate the fact that they have signed lots of new, younger riders. They made eight new signings this offseason. This has forced them to choose a quieter race programme for the opening months of the season.
Mike Teunissen, Bert-Jan Lindeman and Timo Roosen (all TeamLottoNL-Jumbo), Ivar Slik, André Looij and Etienne van Empel (all Team Roompot), Ricardo van Dongen (SEG Racing) and Floris Gert (BMC Development Team) left the team.
Sjoerd Bax, Mitchell Cornelisse, Peter Lenderink, Jan Maas, Joris Nieuwenhuis, Antwan Tolhoek, Hart Thijs de Vries and Sieben Wouters are the eight new riders. Seven more were kept on from 2014.
"This time no Ruta del Sol and no two days in Drenthe. We must ensure that we do not blow up this young team," said team manager Arthur van Dongen to Cycling Online. "In the beginning of the year we have less pro races on the program than in previous years. The new boys should be able to grow quietly to the higher level," he says. The team wants from mid-April to return to their usual schedule.
