All three of 2015’s Grand Tour winners will be at the start line of the Volta a Catalunya. The season’s first WorldTour race in Spain has attracted the likes of Chris Froome, Alberto Contador, Fabio Aru and Nairo Quintana.
The likes of Tejay van Garderen, Richie Porte, Romain Bardet, Rafal Majka, Dan Martin, Rigo Uran and Joaquim Rodriguez are also expected to race.
The race’s route hasn’t been been fully announced, but a stage in Valls is expected, as is the traditional final in the region’s capital, Barcelona.
There are two summit finieshes in the 2016 edition so far, with stage three finishing on Port Ainé in the Alps before stage four features the summit on La Molina, which has featured in the last two editions. Port Ainé was last used in 2013, where Dan Martin won the stage and the GC. Once more, the summit on Vallter 2000 has been left out for the second straight year.
