The Blanco Pro Cycling Team will start La Fleche Wallonne with confidence. The team performance in the Amstel Gold Race this past weekend reinforced the notion of Sport Directors Erik Dekker and Frans Maassen that the team will have more than one iron in the fire in Wallonia.
“I am happy with the way that Lars Petter Nordhaug, Bauke Mollema and Bram Tankink presented themselves in the Amstel, after some days of illness,” explained Sports Director Frans Massen. “On top of that, David Tanner also checked in. Laurens Ten Dam and Paul Martens fell in the Amstel but it is highly likely that both will be at the start in Binche. They are both tough guys. In the Fleche Wallone we want to ride an aggressive and attractive race. It will be wait-and-see as to how they recover from Sunday but as far as we are concerned, they are good to go”, said Maassen.
One of the riders who is good to go is Tom-Jelte Slagter. The ex-WorldTour leader likes his chances at the wall of Huy. “It’s my kind of arrival. In comparison to the Amstel Gold, the Arrow is 50 kilometres shorter and that works to my advantage”, according to Slagter.
Blanco line-up for the Flèche Wallonne:
Moreno Hofland, Paul Martens, Bauke Mollema, Lars Petter Nordhaug, Tom-Jelte Slagter, David Tanner, Bram Tankink and Laurens ten Dam.
