Next season Loic Vliegen will continue at the BMC Development Team but in July, he will make the jump to the WorldTour team. According to Sudpresse, The Belgian rider has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract until 2017 with the BMC Racing Team.
This year Loic Vliegen who turns 21 in December rode as a stagiare at BMC and achieved notable results, including a seventh place in his debut at the London-Surrey Classicand an 8th place in the Arctic Race of Norway. Earlier in the year he was fourth in the U23 Liege-Bastogne-Liege and second in Flèche Ardennaise. Therefore, he was expected to be part of the WorldTour team already from January, a step that will be delayed as he will start 2015 in the Development Team before making the jump in July.
Vliegen follows in the footsteps of another Belgian, Dylan Teuns, and Stefan Küng who will turn both professional in January. All three riders have been riding for the BMC Development Team.
Vliegen is one of the talents that has been compared to his compatriot and future teammate Philippe Gilbert.
The BMC Racing Team has chosen to rejuvenate its roster. Damiano Caruso, Alessandro De Marchi (Cannondale) Jempy Drucker (Wanty-Gobert), Joey Rosskopf (Hincapie Development Team), Stefan Küng, who is double Europeand champion and was third in the U23 TT Worlds, Dylan Teuns, U23 time trial world champion Campbell Flakemore and Italian Manuel Senni are the confirmed signings for 2015.
Philippe Gilbert, Tejay van Garderen, Greg van Avermaet andTaylor Phinney will be the leaders of the team after Thor Hushovd has retired and Cadel Evans will do his last race in February.
