With six months to the start of Paris-Roubaix, BMC have tested the bikes for the hellish classic. A group including Greg Van Avermaet did a small lap that included the Carrefour de l'Arbre. "It ws the perfect opportunity to start to think about next year," the Belgian told Sporza.
In addition to Van Avermaet, Marcus Burghardt, Silvan Dillier, Michael Schär and Jean-Pierre Drucker tried the new equipment. All of them are likely to do the race in 2015. "We did 65km, not much but it was still something," Van Avermaet added.
Accompanied by team manager Allan Peiper, the riders did four laps of a circuit with four pavé sectors, including the famous Carrefour de l'Arbre. In the final lap, it was raining but according to Peiper it was ideal.
"The test went perfectly and the change in weather suited us well. It was the perfect opportunity to see the boys back in action. In the Tour, we will also have a stage with cobbles but we were unable to check it due to a lack of information. We will do that later."
