Darwin Atapuma finished seventh overall as the BMC Racing Team captured the team classification Sunday at Volta a Catalunya.
Atapuma's performance was his best finish on general classification in a stage race since joining the BMC Racing Team at the start of the 2014 season. He finished 33 seconds behind overall winner Richie Porte (Team Sky). Alejandro Valverde (Movistar Team) was runner-up to Porte after winning his third stage of the race on Sunday.
The team title was the BMC Racing Team's third of the season, adding to those won at the Dubai Tour and the Tour of Oman. Joining Atapuma on the winning team was Ben Hermans, Amaël Moinard, Samuel Sánchez, Manuel Senni, Peter Stetina, Dylan Teuns and Tejay van Garderen - who won Stage 4 on Thursday.
"The team did a very good job for Darwin," BMC Racing Team Sport Director Yvon Ledanois said, "and it was a good week overall with the victory for the team and the stage win for Tejay. Now we hope Tejay makes a good recovery before Vuelta al Pais Vasco."
