In 2015, Edvald Boasson Hagen will be one of the captains of the reinforced MTN-Qhubeka team. The Norwegian has decided where he will start his season and will again have Paris-Roubaix as the first big goal of his season.
The one-day races in Mallorca, the Tour of Qatar, the Tour of Oman and Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. According to Procycling.no, those are the first races on the schedule for Edvald Boasson Hagen in his first season as an MTN-Qhubeka rider.
The program is markedly different from the one he had at Team Sky this season. The Norwegian decided to cut down on non-European races and after Mallorca, he did the Ruta del Sol.
The schedule has been made by sports director Jens Zemke who had discussions with Boasson Hagen during the recent training camp in South Africa
The 48-year-old German will lead the team in the spring classics.
"He is a very nice guy. He was reliable rider himself and also has experience in women's cycling," Gabriel Rasch who worked with Zemke at Cervelo Test Team, tells procycling.no about the German sports director.
As it was the case in recent seasons, Boasson Hagen's main goal is Paris-Roubaix. In 2015, the Tour de France (the team relies on invitations to the WorldTour races) and the Worlds in Richmond are the other key targets.
Sindre Olsen who works as a journalist at Norwegian TV2, writes on Twitter that Boasson Hagen stopped in Paris while travelling home from the MTN-Qhubeka training camp.
"With riders like Tyler Farrar and Gerald Ciolek, they want to do a recon of the courses for all the most important one-day races," Damian Murphy from MTN-Qhubeka tells procycling.no.
