Edvald Boasson Hagen (MTN-Qhubeka) is back on the Norwegian time trial throne after he completed a dominant performance at the 2015 edition of the national championships. The star rider was 2.16 faster than Andreas Vangstad (Sparebanken Sør) while Truls Korsaeth (Joker) was another 19 seconds adrift in third.
From 2007 to 2011, Edvald Boasson Hagen was a dominant king of the Norwegian time trial scene, winning the national championships five times in a row. However, he lost his crown in 2012 when Reidar Borgersen surprisingly beat him.
In 2013, Boasson Hagen got his revenge as he reclaimed his title but last year injury prevented him from defending his title. Hence, Borgersen took another victory and the scene was set for a big battle between the two rivals in this year's race on a 49.6km course in Brumunddal.
However, Boasson Hagen left no doubt about his superiority as he was in a class of his own in a field that was made up of continental riders. He beat big talent Andreas Vangstad into second with a 2.16 winning margin while Truls Korsaeth completed the podium. Borgersen could only manage 11th.
Boasson Hagen will be one of the favourites in Sunday's road race but with no teammates at his side, he will find himself isolated against the many continental teams and Alexander Kristoff who will be supported by Sven Erik Bysrøm.
