Even though his first showing in the MTN-Qhubeka outfit wasn't as impressive as his winter-break declarations, Edvald Boasson Hagen insists to feel totally liberated after joining the South African squad and aims to win more than just one classic this season.
The 27-year old Norwegian hasn't exactly shined in the Challenge Mallorca or Tour of Qatar, but his top ten result obtained in the short time trial stage of the latter event can be regarded as a shy sign of improvement.
Nonetheless, Boasson Hagen claims to be very pleased with his new team and performances in season's opening races.
„I'm very happy,” the 27-year old Norwegian told Sporza. „At Sky I felt good, but after five years I needed to try something new. Now I can ride on my own account, as here we are not focused on the general classification contenders.”
Adding Boasson Hagen, Bos, Farrar and Goss to their roster for 2015 season, MTN-Qhubeka turned themselves into one of the strongest contenders for one-day races and flat stages. In such circumstances the Norwegian rider looks forward to the spring classics campaign and aims to signifficantly improve on his results from last years.
„We have an excellent team. It is still early in the season, but for now it looks awesome.”
„I'm going to ride almost all of the classics and I hope to perform better than in previous years. Should I pick just one which I'd like to win? Of course I want to win all the classics. Later we will see how it goes,” he concluded.
