Kris Boeckmans will wear the Lotto Soudal jersey for two more years. Negotiations for a new contract are well underway, the Belgian revealed after winning the World Ports Classic.
The 28-year-old rider is in his second season at the service of the WorldTour team manager Marc Sergeant. It looks like he renewed that commitment by two years. "They give me confidence. Broadly, we agree on my objectives and demands. I think we are close to signing it,” he encouragingly told WeilerFlits.
After four seasons without significant victory, Boeckmans has strung this season lots of victories together. The stage win in Rotterdam and the final standings of the World Ports Classic were his seventh and eighth victories of the year. The next mission in Antwerp is located in the Tour selection of his team. And that is no easy task. In the nine-member team only two spots are still available. "Everybody wants to go to the Tour. I also want to go. No matter what role I would get, I’d enjoy going to the Tour to help Andre (Greipel, ed.).”
