Milano – Sanremo is the first main goal of the season for CCC Sprandi Polkowice. It’s also the first UCI World Tour race this year for the “orange squad” and the big milestone in the team’s history. 
 

"We have taken part in many UCI World Tour races before, but Milano-Sanremo is special. It’s one of the cycling monuments, the dream of many riders. It’s also the longest professional road race and the winner is never incidental. All the riders who make the roster for La Primavera have to be in top shape. The total distance of almost 300 kilometers is not common in professional cycling, so it requires special preparation," Piotr Wadecki, sport director of CCC Sprandi Polkowice, said.

"We don’t put any pressure on our riders. The race is hard enough to put an extra ballast on their shoulders. We will stand on the start line as a “dark horse” and we hope that we will surprise everyone with our performance. The riders don’t need extra motivation either. They are all aware of the importance of this race and whe ere it stands in the cycling hierarchy," he added. 

The route favors riders who can sprint well and are able to stay in the main group on short climbs, so it should suit Grega Bole. The Slovenian has participated  in Milano-Sanremo a few times so he knows what to expect. In the last test, GP Nobili Rubinetterie, Bole claimed 5th place. He also has two 3rd places on stages of Ruta del Sol and 7th overall at the Dubai Tour under his belt in 2015. Maciej Paterski has never raced in the Italian legendary event but he proved last year in Ponferrada that he can do very well in such long races. For Christian Delle Stelle, Milan-Sanremo is something he was always dreaming about. He was born in Milano and when growing up he would watch the competition from the road side.

Adrian Kurek, Tomasz Kiendyś, Jarosław Marycz, Bartłomiej Matysiak and Branislau Samoilau also made the roster.

Milano-Sanremo is 293km long and features two famous climbs in the final 25km – Cipressa (5,6km and 4,1% average gradient) and Poggio (3,7km and avg 3,7%). From the top of the latter, it’s 5,5km to the finish. This year the organizers decided to move the finish line back to Via Roma. For the last 6 years (2008-2014) it was located on the Piazzale Italo Calvino.
