The 2015 season again showcased the talent of Niccolo Bonfizaio. In the second year as a professional, the Italian confirmed the promises he showed in his debut, taking a big win at the GP Lugano and fifth place in Milan - San Remo.
The results that have given great attention to Bonifazio who is a both a strong sprinter with solid climbing skills.
"This year was pretty good," he told Spaziociclismo. "I'm happy, I was hoping to win a little more but that's okay."
Next year year he will leave Lampre-Merida to join Trek where he will be united with fellow countrymen Fabio Felline, Giacomo Nizzolo, Eugenio Alafaci and Marco Coledan.
"Right now I am quiet," he said. "I'm trying to rest. You have to prepare well for the races earlier in the season. For some time, I have known the Italians in the team. They're all good and I will definitely feel well there.
The preparation for 2016 has not yet started and the schedule will be defined "during the month of November," but the prospect of racing the classics alongside Fabian Cancellara pleases Bonifazio although this may also limit his personal ambitions. Waiting to know the schedule, the aim is clear:
"I want to try to do well in some important races. Maybe with fewer victories but at a higher level."
