Lars Boom has assured that his low cortisol levels have nothing to do with doping. "I have certainly not done any crazy things," he tells NOS. "I've always been one hundred percent against doping and nothing has changed."
The Astana rider was told the bad news on Friday afternoon. "I lay quietly in bed when the doctor came in." Then a chaotic period followed . "I did not sleep well at all. Of course it has hit me, but I do not need to worry because there is nothing to worry about."
Boom as an explanation for the low cortisol levels. "I have an asthma medication which I have use for ten years. I have also been sick so these factors have all played a role."
Astana have confirmed that Boom will start the Tour. He is set to roll down the ramp at 16.55.
