Coach Johan Lammerts has selected Lars Boom for the Cyclo-Cross World Cup in Namur. The Belgian will be held on December 20. World champion Mathieu van der Poel and Lars van der Haar are part of the eight-man squad too.
This winter Lars Boom will do at least cross races. His participations in Antwerp, Loenhout and Surhuisterveen are already guaranteed. Now Namur can be added to that list and the Astana rider is also hoping for selection for the World Cup in Heusden-Zolder. Boom is also targeting the World Championships. To fulfill the official requirements for the Worlds, he has to finish in the top 16 in two World Cup races, with Namur and Heusden-Zolder being his only two chances.
Compared to the previous World Cup race (Koksijde), Niels Wubben has missed out on selection for the national team. Last week he announced that he will retire on January 1.
In the overall standings, Wout van Aert has a narrow lead over Sven Nys and Lars van der Haar.
