At the opening of the four-day Czech Cycling Tour, a team time trial over 20.4 kilometers took place in Uničov. Led by Czech time trial champion Jan Barta Bora-Argon 18 set the second best time on the technical course with 23:48 minutes. The German team was just beaten by the WorldTour pros from Etixx-QuickStep who rode just nine seconds faster. All other teams could not brak the 24-minute mark.
"The team rode very well and everything worked almost perfectly. The course was partly very demanding with many corners and therefore it was important to find the best line. We haven’t lost the few seconds that were missing to the victory by any mistake, but we were simply beaten by the stronger team. A good race and a good result", Sport Director Enrico Poitschke is pleased with the success.
"Now we are in a good position to put the leading team in the GC under pressure with all the riders. Therefore, we are optimistic that we can even fight for the leader's jersey in the coming days. Tomorrow there is a flat stage which should suit Phil [Bauhaus]. After that, two difficult days are on the program and it might cause changes in the GC", said Poitschke the race tactics.
