Good news for Bora-Argon 18. They confirmed in a press release that the Ralph Denk’s team will race the 99th edition of the Tour of Flanders. The German team will ride three of five monuments on the cycling calendar: Milan-San Remo, Tour of Flanders and Il Lombardia.
“The Belgian classics season starts in two weeks, and the invitation is thus extremely motivating. In recent years, we completed the Tour of Flanders in about 30th place. We expect to do significantly better this year. The team’s experience from competing in the Tour of Flanders three times, and countless smaller classics on the same roads are sure to pay off,” says Ralph Denk, Team Manager of BORA – ARGON 18.
This year's Tour of Flanders will take place on Easter Sunday, April 5. After the traditional start on the market square in Bruges, the team will have to cover 265 kilometers before crossing the finishing line in Oudenaarde. The profile includes 19 infamous hellinge, including ten climbs over cobblestones.
The organizer of the Tour of Flanders already invited the team to compete in the WorldTour classic Gent-Wevelgem last week. The German team can thus already look forward to forty racing days in the highest category.
