Bora-Argon 18 go into the Tour of Oman with Sam Bennett as the leader in the sprint stages and Dominik Nerz, Gregor Mühlberger, Patrick Konrad and Emanuel Buchmann as potential GC options.
Rudiger Selig, Shane Archbold and Christoph Pfingsten complete the roster and will be important as they form Bennett's lead-out train.
"In Oman we will see a different race than in Qatar," manager Ralph Denk said. "First of all the GC will be decided at the mountaintop finish in stage 4. This means also that not just the sprinter teams will have the interest in keeping the peloton together, but also the teams who think that they can win the GC will work for their leaders.
"I think this will lead to sprint finishes in the first days, but also the sprints will be different. In Oman the stages are not really flat, the course is hilly all the time, and that should help “lightweight” sprinters like Sam Bennett to take some advantage. Sam normally can survive those kind of courses very well and we hope that he is then a little bit fresher in the end than the “bigger” guys.
"In the GC our climbers Buchmann, Konrad, Mühlberger and Nerz are free to take their chance. Our goal is to get another top ten result in the GC and I think all 4 of them have the potential to achieve that. With his 10th position in the GC, Patrick Konrad already proved that last year.“
