After several years, Cofidis Solutions Crédits return to racing in Italy at Milan - San Remo and do so with great ambitions.
The undisputed leader of the team will be Nacer Bouhanni, winner of the points classification at the last Giro d'Italia. The French rider wants to take a further step up this year, with a focus on the Tour de France and on classics like Gent - Wevelgem and Milan-Sanremo.
"I am very happy to be back in Italy because it has always done me a lot of good," he said. "Last year at the Giro I had a lot of satisfaction. It is no secret that I will aim to get a result at Milan-San Remo , thanks to the support of the whole team. Of the one-day races it is the most suitable to my characteristics as a sprinter so I will do everything to give the best here too."
To support the sprinter, veteran Canadian Dominique Rollin, Cyril Lemoine who was often on the attack in the latest La Grande Boucle, the rouleur Gert Jõeäär, sprinters Adrien Petit, Louis Verhelst and Christophe Laporte and classics specialist Florian Sénéchal.
"We have decided to return to Italy for at least three reasons," explained general manager Yvon Sanquer. "The first is that Milan-Sanremo is perfectly suited to the characteristics of Nacer and we think that a victory is within our reach, and the second is that we want to win as much as possible this year and races like this can not be missing on the calendar. The third is that Italy is important for Cofidis who have supported us for years."
To celebrate the return of his cycling team to the country, Cofidis Italy will be a Gold Sponsor at Milan-Sanremo.
