Nacer Bouhanni has made his schedule for the first part of the 2015 season and the French sprinter is set to focus on a few classics and the Tour de France. After his outstanding 2014 season with 11 wins that included three stage wins in the Giro d’Italia and two in the Vuelta a Espana, the Frenchman will be one of the leaders at the Cofidis team.
Bouhanni makes the move after five years at Marc Madiot’s FDJ team and faces a new calendar as the undisputed leader of his new team. Paris-Nice, and classics like Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne, Milan-Sanremo, Dwars door Vlaanderen and Ghent-Wevelgem will be his main goal in the first half of the year and in July, he hopes to win his first stage in the Tour de France.
The French sprinter has decided how he will approach the French grand tour and according to L’Equipe, he has made the following schedule:
Challenge Mallorca (January 29-February 1), Tour of Qatar (February 8-13), Tour of Oman (February 17-22), Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne (March 1), Paris-Nice (March 8-15), Milan -San Remo (March 22), Dwars door Vlaanderen (March 25), Ghent-Wevelgem (March 29), Route Adélie (April 3), Paris-Camembert (April 5), Circuit de la Sarthe (April 7-10), Critérium du Dauphiné (June 7-14) and the French Championships (June 28).
At FDJ, Bouhanni never got the chance to ride the classics as the team decided to focus on his archrival Arnaud Demare in those races. His desire to do the big one-day races was one of the reasons for his decision to leave his current team.
In 2014, he won 11 races: a stage in the Etoile de Besseges, Paris-Nice, Criterium International and Circuit de la Sarthe, the one-day race GP de Denain, three stage in the Giro d’Italia – and the points jersey – a stage in the Eneco Tour and two stages in the Vuelta a Espana.
